Dancer's Sweet 16

A return client needed a cake for her daughters 16th birthday and she came to me again. I am honored! Thank you Dawn!

Her daughter Jordan is a dancer; tap, ballet, hip hop and jazz... I got busy in my research and design. She wanted a chocolate cake with Twinkie like filling.... December must be a month for chocolate! :)

I did a lot of gumpaste work on this cake... I love working with gumpaste! I also made marshmallow fondant! So far... the best and easiest fondant to work with! I will definately be using this fondant in the future.

Let me know what you think...

Ugly Sweater Cake

We were invited to an Ugly Sweater Party this year... Everyone was supposed to bring a dish to share... well you know me.... Cake it is... We also brought an unwrapped toy for a child as the fabulous hosts were donating to an organization for needy families... What a great idea! The Schmeid's ROCK!

I marbled my cake and made a twinkie like filling! It was sure yummy! A lot of work... Let me know what you think...

Denim & Diamonds Sweet 16

Happy Sunday!

My good friend, Shelly asked me to create a cake for her neice's 16th Birthday... She loves horses, browns and greens. Now, I don't know if any of you have looked at Sweet Sixteen stuff, but it's all Pink and Black... But you know my standard answer.... "YES, I can do that!" So the party theme is Denim and Diamonds.... I sat down a couple of Sundays ago and started sketching designs. I DON'T DRAW!!!!

So the creating began.... It was a Funfetti cake with "Twinkie" filling... Yum! Buttercream crumbcoat, denim colored fondant and gumpaste creations. We searched for the cake topper... to order a really "Bling" 16... was super expensive... so while I was in a great cake shop... I found candy molds! So I bought white chocolate and the toppers were created! Everything on the cake is EDIBLE! That is always my goal!
Please take a peak and let me know what you think!

Thanks so much for the support and Keep the cake orders coming!! :D

Barnyard Baby Shower Cake

So... I was asked if I could do a Barnyard Baby Shower cake... by now you all know that my answer is "Sure, I can do that!". My client asked if she should purchase the Fisher Price farm animals.... NO! I can make those out of gumpaste.... Wow, did I have fun!

Please take a look! This was my first square cake.... and it had it's challenges... But how does the mantra go.... What doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger! This is soo true as I actually through a temper tantrum like a 2 year old in the kitchen in front of my 17 year old son... :) Yes! I had a melt down!!! But I think it turned out great!

It is a white cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream icing! The animals on the cake are all made of out gumpaste! So much fun! I love working/creating with gumpaste! So far, I thinks it's my favorite medium! :)
